  • Summary: LOVE IT!!
  • Comment: I really like this product. I was over at a friends house and he pulled it out and I said that I wanted one! Went to Wal-Mart, wasn't there...he said that it would be best to get it off the internet. So I did! Just to let the sellers know, I only gave it four stars because of the shipping...it said it would be here on May 17, but it was here the 20... I STILL GIVE IT 4.9 STARS!!!!! the other thing is, THEY LIKE THEIR COSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! They individually place a little note on the product. I thought that was way cool. Not very many companies give it their own personal touch. I like this about them...I will probably look for products from them. =) Thank you so much guys!

  • Summary: Good for general use, not so much for completing the game
  • Comment: The guide will help you through a majority of your tasks. However, several errors throughout the guide can mislead you. If you have played Animal Crossing before, you will be better off. Most things have not changed except for the newly added features and some prices of the fish and insects. (The Sea Bass is now not completely a waste of time!) If you are looking to complete your game 100%, believe it or not, I would suggest buying the Animal Crossing: Wild World guide as well, to offset the mistakes. (Either that, or use walkthrough guides online. I simply used the online guide at [...] which has a page listing out most of the mistakes found in the guide and I fixed them with pen. However, you will have A LOT of work ahead of you.) This review is somewhat detailed. I have a quick sum-up on the last paragraph if you want a quick review.

When you first crack open the guide, it will guide you through your first day very well. You will learn about the town and the general things you need to know just fine. However, when it comes to the more "advanced" things, the guide begins to fail. (Would you rather DONATE 700,000,000 bells or SAVE 700,000,000 bells for that Rainbow Feather? Just to specify, you SAVE the bells, not give them away, as the guide states.) They also fail to mention how to cross-breed flowers, which is essential to the game. So, the first section of the book is good for your first day, but make sure to correct the mistakes since they are very MAJOR and will frustrate you. One thing I do like about this section, which was not included in the guides for the last 2 Animal Crossing games, is that they tell you HOW to create the perfect town. Very impressive detail added!

The section about the city is perfect. Everything you need to know is right there.

The section regarding the characters you will encounter is, for the most part, great. A few technical errors. Some "minor" errors that could mislead you. (Songs needed to be REQUESTED from K. K. Slider, ONLY KATIE can be guided back to her mother, Wisp can appear earlier than they let on.) The rest of the character section has a few minor errors, I believe. But, you really won't need that part of the guide anyway.

The special events section with the calendar is great, except for a few misplaced birthdays. The guide actually corrects the official Animal Crossing website this year. (Festivale DIDN'T COME IN MARCH! Bummer.) The fish and insects availability is an incredible idea and VERY helpful.

The Feng Shui/HRA section is good but definitely not detailed enough. No errors, I don't believe.

The furniture section will... frustrate the heck out of you if you are using the checklist, which I recommend. All of the furniture is there. However, first off, they fail to list one of the most IMPORTANT things in the entire game: the color/feng shui of the items. Feng Shui, although probably not essential, is KEY if you are going to finish the game THIS CENTURY. Why they failed to put it there when the last 2 guides didn't, is beyond me. (Remember when I said you would have A LOT of work writing in errors from the online guides? It took me hours just to do this part.) Next, the furniture and series in the guide are supposed to match the order in the catalog in the game. It does for the most part, but some things (specifically in the wallpaper/carpet section) are out of order. Also, something else beyond me, they decided to create their own sets, that are not reflected in the game. (Sets are comprised of a few furniture that carries a certain theme) Also, some included in the sets are supposed to be with a theme (the drums are a part of the construction theme), but are not placed with them. Aside from those "major" mistakes, it is what you need.

Another failing of the guide are some of the mistakes near the end of the guide, with bugs and insects. Some have prices wrong (very "minor") but some errors have the LOCATIONS wrong (very "major"). You would not be able to complete the game if you were to follow the few but "major" errors. The timing chart of the insects is very helpful but it does have a "major" mistake in that it posts the wrong timing for 2 of them (Migratory locust, mantis; failed to add 4 more months). The fish section only misses a few prices.

The rest of the guide is pretty much perfect with a few technical errors.

The quick sum-up is that this guide is great for getting started out. However, some misleading errors will hinder you from advancing. You would encounter the first of the "major" mistakes about a week into the game. However, despite the errors, a guide is HIGHLY recommended for the game, Animal Crossing. And there is only 1 guide available, being this one. My recommendation would be to (1) buy this guide, print out the few pages from websites regarding this game, and correct the mistakes using an online walk-through (the one at [...] has a section just for mistakes found in the guide; you will also need to fill in the feng shui colors of the furniture, also available in the [...] guide) or (2) buy the Animal Crossing: Wild World guide and kind of figure out the differences and new features.
